(Washington, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is alerting all stakeholders along Colorado Ave NW and surrounding streets, to expect intermittent lane shifts and closures continuing from May 30, 2024, to June 28, 2024. Residents can expect these intermittent closures to appear along:
• Blagden Avenue NW between Matthewson Drive NW and 16th Street NW.
• Colorado Avenue NW between Colorado Avenue NW (dead end) and 16th Street NW
• Blagden Terrace NW between 17th Street NW and Colorado Avenue NW
• Decatur Street NW between Blagden Avenue and 17th Street
These intermittent lane closures are necessary to install underground conduit in one lane of the roadway, as well as electrical structures such as, Manholes, Tapholes, and Transformer Enclosures, required for the undergrounding of the primary electrical network. This work is taking place as a part of the DC PLUG Feeder 15001 Project.
Please expect delays. Traffic controls, including signage, will be in place to guide motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians safely through the work zone. All users of the roadway are advised to stay alert and be observant of signage and work zones while traveling in this area.
The completed project will improve the reliability and resiliency of the District of Columbia electric system by placing select overhead primary lines underground. Feeders are primary distribution power lines that provide services to approximately 1,300 residents within a specific neighborhood.
