The Cold Weather Emergency is issued for Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 7:00M, per the District of Columbia's Winter Plan. The National Weather Service reports temperatures will be 32 degrees but will feel like 26 degrees due to wind chill. Stay inside, bundle up if you go out, call 311 or (202) 399-7093 for accessible shelter transport. For animal abuse or neglect, including pets left outdoors in extreme weather, call the Humane Rescue Alliance at (202) 723-5730. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the District of Columbia, which is in effect from 1:00PM, Tuesday, February 11, 2025, until 7:00PM, Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

WHAT: Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches, with locally higher amounts possible.

IMPACTS: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commute. Snow will overspread the area from late Tuesday morning into the afternoon, with the steadiest snow expected late Tuesday afternoon and evening. A light wintry mix may continue into Wednesday, but little to no additional accumulation is expected.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Snowfall rates around 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible late Tuesday afternoon and evening.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
