The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for the District of Columbia until 8AM, Thursday, September 22, 2022.
What: Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas due to tidal flooding.
Where: The shoreline in the District of Columbia.
Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.
Additional Details: Tides between one half foot and one foot above normal. The next high tide at Washington Channel is at 6:52PM.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
Many alerts regard violent crime. Do not take action, instead call 911 with the event number if listed.
