The Department of Human Services (DHS) reports the Hypothermia Alert is deactivated. According to National Weather Service (NWS), the current temperature is 42 degrees with a wind chill of 37 degrees. Today’s forecast, mostly sunny, with a high near 50. Northwest wind around 8 mph. Tonight’s forecast, partly cloudy, with a low around 30. Light and variable wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph after midnight.

In accordance with the 2017-18 District of Columbia Winter Plan for the Homeless, The Interagency Council on Homelessness (ICH) along with Department of Human Services (DHS), will activate the Hypothermia Alert. To request shelter transport for DC residents who are homeless and on the street contact the Shelter Hotline (202) 399-7093, or 311.


Many alerts regard violent crime. Do not take action, instead call 911 with the event number if listed.
