The District Government Cold Emergency Plan will remain in effect until 8AM Tuesday, January 22, 2019. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the current temperature is 15 degrees with a wind chill of -1 degrees. Tonight’s forecast is clear, with a low around 15 degrees and a wind chill of -3 degrees. Northwest winds of 7-14 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph.

The District activates the Cold Emergency plan when the temperature and wind chill drop to 15° F or when the temperature, with wind chill, is 20° F and there is an accompanying meteorological event such as rain or snow. To request shelter transport for DC residents who are homeless and on the street now, contact the Shelter Hotline at (202) 399-7093 or 311.
