The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Coastal Flood Advisory, which is in effect until 4PM on Friday, December 21, 2018.

After the Coastal Flood Advisory expires, a Coastal Flood Warning will be in effect at 4PM on Friday, December 21, 2018 to 11PM this evening.

Location: Shoreline in the District of Columbia.

Tidal Departure:
Around 2 feet above normal.

Timing:
Within a few hours of high tide. High tide at Washington Channel will be at 6:29 AM this morning, with the second higher high tide at 6:39 PM this evening.

Impacts:
For this morning, shoreline inundation is expected along portions of the seawall adjacent to Ohio Drive and the Hains Point Loop Road, and near the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial.
Minor shoreline inundation up to one foot above ground is possible elsewhere.

For this evening, the unprotected area on the Southwest Waterfront at the DC Seafood Market is expected to flood. Water is expected to approach parts of the Hains Point Loop Road, but it will likely be closed. Shoreline inundation up to one foot above ground is possible elsewhere.

- A Coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water, and take appropriate action to protect life and property.
