The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to temporarily close lanes of traffic on 7th St., NW from Pennsylvania Avenue to Massachusetts Avenue and restrict curbside parking starting Monday, December 10, weather permitting. At least one lane will be open to the traffic in each direction.
The closures and restrictions are needed to repair sidewalks, curbs, gutter and the roadway. In order to keep the inconvenience to residents, businesses and their customers to a minimum, the repair work will be done during non-rush hours only.
The contractor is authorized to work from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. The work is scheduled to be completed by February 4, 2019, if weather permits.
Parking restriction signs will be posted at least 72 hours in advance at locations where parking will not be allowed. These signs will notify the duration and dates of “No Parking” and provide contact information of the engineer in charge.
Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas. Motorists should anticipate moderate delays due to the lane closures. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the work zone.
Many alerts regard violent crime. Do not take action, instead call 911 with the event number if listed.
