National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning which is in effect for the District of Columbia until midnight tonight. The Coastal Flood Advisory is no longer in effect.

* LOCATIONS...Shoreline in the District of Columbia.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE...Around 2 to 2.25 feet above normal.

* TIMING...Within a few hours of high tide. The next high tide at Washington Channel is at 10:11 PM this evening.

* IMPACTS...The unprotected area on the Southwest Waterfront at the DC Seafood Market is expected to flood. Water is expected to approach parts of the Hains Point Loop Road, but it will likely be closed. Shoreline inundation up to one foot above ground is possible elsewhere.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...A Coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or imminent. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water, and take appropriate action to protect life and property.


Many alerts regard violent crime. Do not take action, instead call 911 with the event number if listed.
